Education and Professional Development

  • B.S., Materials Engineering, California Polytechnic State University , San Luis Obispo
  • Specific areas of study include mechanical behavior, biomaterials, physical metallurgy, joining of advanced materials, composites, polymers, micro systems, micro fabrication, and electronic properties of materials

Summary of Professional Experience

Mr. Clark is an engineer whose technical skills include mechanical testing, process and product development, research and analysis, product and system design, standard operating procedures, and bill of materials. His experience includes:

  • Research, analysis, material selection, and mechanical testing
  • Design, fabrication, and standard operating procedures
  • Hands-on team projects involving design, process, testing, and/or analysis

Representative Experience

  • For a corporation that manufactures and delivers proprietary technology, Mr. Clark modified a 3-point bend mechanism to perform repeatable 4-point bend tests, developed a testing procedure for qualifying raw, coated, and finished substrates, redesigned Excel worksheets for the NOx emission of each coating process, and wrote Standard Operating Procedures and reports for internal publication.
  • On a senior project involving friction stir welding az31 magnesium alloy, Mr. Clark determined the rotation speed and weld speed for a defect-free weld with 85 percent base - metal properties, research ed friction stir weld and magnesium alloys, mounted and polished specimens for optical microscopy and analysis of weld nugget, conducted micro hardness traverse and tension test for mechanical analysis, gave an oral presentation, and published a paper.
  • Mr. Clark's technical projects include:
    • Conducted material selection and design of SMARTPill microchip for short-term drug delivery
    • Researched and critiqued biocompatibility of titanium alloys
    • Designed and fabricated Fiber Optic assembly to test light transfer
    • Measured aluminum beverage can strain with strain gauges
    • Fabricated and tested YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 superconductor
    • Researched and critiqued the effect of laser welding parameters
